Are There Any Home Teeth Whitening Remedies a Dentist in Saratoga Springs Would Recommend?

Dentist Saratoga Springs, NY

The appearance of one's teeth can make or break confidence levels and affect how a person engages with others on a personal and social level, which is why a dentist in Saratoga Springs may recommend teeth whitening. While in-office whitening treatments are almost always more effective, there are certain at-home treatments of which many dentists approve.

Popular at-home whitening systems

Not all at-home whitening kits are as effective as others. The following five kits come recommended by many dentists.

1.Opalescence PF 35%

Opalescence is well-known for its whitening products and the amazing results those products achieve. Ideally, to maintain the results, one should pair Opalescence 35% with Opalescence toothpaste. In most cases, users see dramatic results in as little as one use and after just 30 minutes. This is in large part due to the carbamide peroxide the bleaching gel contains. The only drawback of Opalescence is the fact that it requires custom whitening trays. However, for many individuals, it is worth it to have a dentist in Saratoga Springs make custom trays.

2.Lumibrite

Lumibrite utilizes a solution that contains high concentrations of carbamide peroxide, which is effective in whitening teeth but also results in sensitivity in many instances. Research has found, however, that the Lumibrite solution causes little to no sensitivity. As with Opalescence, one may achieve dramatic results in as little as one use.

3.Opalescence Go 15%

Opalescence Go is a milder version of Opalescence PF 35%, as it contains a lower concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Unlike with the former Opalescence, one does not need custom trays to utilize this system. Similar to Crest 3D Whitestrips, it comes with ready-made trays that form to each wearers' teeth. Because this particular solution contains only 15% hydrogen peroxide, it takes a bit longer to achieve significant results. However, the time frame is still shorter than that of other systems. Those with sensitivity issues should be happy to note that the solution also contains fluoride and potassium nitrate, both of which serve to strengthen the enamel.

4.Zoom NiteWhite 22%

Zoom NiteWhite is slightly less potent than Opalescence PF 35% but slightly more so than Opalescence Go, making it a good middle-of-the-road option, especially for those with mild sensitivity who want to see dramatic results in little time. Like with Opalescence Go, the solution contains fluoride and potassium nitrate to help with sensitivity.

5.Crest 3D Whitestrips

Crest 3D Whitestrips is one of the more popular at-home whitening methods. These strips are easy to access and can be purchased at any drug store or online. Like with Opalescence Go, the strips mold to the teeth for ultimate comfort and effectiveness. These strips are designed more for those with sensitivity issues, as the solution has just a 10% hydrogen peroxide concentration.

Conclusion

Whiter teeth can make many people feel more confident in their appearance and smile. Talk to your dentist in Saratoga Springs about at-home or in-office whitening solutions that are right for you.
